To “Dye” For

April 1, 2012

According to organizer, Phillip Bryan, they had twenty-five to thirty people, including participants from Oklahoma, Louisiana, Los Angeles, and San Francisco at this month’s tie-dye event. This is typical for their silk-dye workshops. It ran until after sunset, then they packed up and went to a group dinner.

The next workshop is planned to be a cotton workshop.

Phillip met with the Exall Park community center and they have tentative plans for the next cotton workshop and participation in their summer program. These plans are still in development and depends on getting the necessary city permits and assistance from his friends to run the event in the park. The hope is to set up t-shirt tie-dye at the mid-April open house/registration event in Exall Park. Proceeds from the workshop will fund supplies needed for the summer program workshops. During the summer workshops, kids will bring and dye their own shirts, and he hopes to have materials covered so there’s no additional fee for them. Assuming the April workshop works out, participants will pay a fee and dye a cotton t-shirt. Everyone is invited to join them.
