Gateway to the Arts

The Vision Continues

Downtown and Deep Ellum underpasses continue to get great exposure thanks to our Morning News East Dallas blogger, Nancy Visser. Her story on the LED lighting at the ‘pillar park’ in Deep Ellum is an inspiration for our own Gateway To The Arts District underpass at Ross Avenue and Central Expressway. There is a call to artists published by the City of Dallas with a deadline of February 2nd to submit ideas that must include lighting at the underpass. So things are moving
along.

It is a challenge keeping the underpass clean with weather and litter bugs, but the underpass remains nice looking for the most part. Additional boulders will replace the plants that didn’t survive, so look for that change very soon. Whenever safe and possible, please pick up any debris you might see when using the underpass to help keep it beautiful.

There was a second accident with one of the boulders being pushed upon the sidewalk and a cactus plant ruined. Hopefully drivers will be more careful and not be distracted in the future.
